Hope Scott Trust
The Hope Scott Trust was set up by the late Mrs Hope Scott to help promote Music and the Visual Arts in Scotland. Preference will be given to applicants who are Scottish by birth, or live permanently in Scotland.
The Trust allocates a proportion of its resources to help musicians, artists, sculptors etc., with grants for commissions and musical events, and on the art side, to help with exhibitions, travel etc.
In some cases grants are given for further tuition and costs of travel in the UK and in other countries. However, grants are not given to cover ordinary educational/course fees, except in exceptional cases but this is very seldom.
People wishing to apply to the Trust for financial assistance should write to "The Hope Scott Trust", care of Murray Beith Murray, 3 Glenfinlas Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6AQ giving, in the first instance brief details of what sort of financial assistance is required and what for, so far as possible, per the attached list, and also a C.V. They should also, if possible, give a break-down of financial help already obtained or offered from other sources so that the Trustees can have
an overall picture. If it is felt that the Trust can help, further information may be requested.
If you wish to apply to the Trust, please complete and return the relevant application form along with any supporting papers and any further information you may wish to add.
Intending applicants are asked to bear in mind that the Trust has limited funds. The Trustees would like to use the money at their disposal to help people and projects where there is a serious financial need.
The Trustees normally meet three times a year usually in February, June and 0ctober. Applications have to be handed in - at latest - one month before the meeting date. Applicants will be informed of the Trustees' decision as soon as possible after the meeting.
